River Street Savannah Events You’ll Want to Plan Your Trip Around

  • River Street Fourth of July Celebration

No one does the all-American holiday quite like The Hostess City, and there’s no better spot to watch the sparks fly from than the Savannah River. Celebrate your Fourth of July at River Street’s annual festival. The event includes live music, vendors, kid’s activities, and of course, a massive firework display. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, but be sure to arrive early to snag the best spot on the river.

  • BBQ & Wings Festival

Every year River Street sends summer out in style with the classic BBQ & Wings Festival. This event offers the best of both worlds—a laid back, family-friendly environment with all of the excitement of River Street. Admission to the event is free and proceeds from food tastings benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Don’t miss out on your chance to sample some of the best grillworks in the south!

  • Oktoberfest on the River

Ring in fall with bratwurst and beers at the annual Oktoberfest on the River. The staple event includes traditional German Schuhplattler, an extensive Biergarten, spätzle and schnitzel tastings, and even “Wiener dog” races! Join in on the fun at Savannah’s annual Oktoberfest.

  • Savannah Food and Wine Festival

The Savannah Food and Wine Festival is one of the finest festivals in the state. Technically, the event is scattered throughout the city’s best restaurants, but you’ll want to attend Friday night’s River Street Stroll where you can bask in maritime views and craft cocktails. Get your tickets early as the price increases at the gate.

  • Christmas on the River

Celebrate the pending arrival of St. Nicholas with the cheer-filled Christmas on the River jubilee. Shop the craft show and find some new ornaments to adorn your tree, awe at the holiday street performers, and light up your little one’s eyes with the Saturday evening Christmas parade. Christmas on the River is the perfect way to fill your December with yuletide cheer.

  • St. Patrick’s Day Festival

River Street’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival is the city’s largest event of the year. All but the river turns green for this annual event. Visitors transform the quaint River Street into a metropolis for gilded kilts and Irish cream. Every box is checked with bagpipers, leprechauns, and the third largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the country. If you haven’t visited yet, you’ll want to put this crowd-flocking event on your bucket list.
