Relax by the Shoreline
Visitors to Tybee Island have a wide variety of beaches to choose from to suit every type of experience! There are three beaches at the edge of the island (South, Mid, and North Beach), as well as two river beaches (Savannah River Beach and Back River Beach). For quieter, more relaxing beaches, Savannah River Beach and North Beach are your two best options, while South Beach is usually busier, owing its popularity to soft sand, warm water, and plenty of nearby parking. For land lovers, you can bike one of the many trails in the area. For fans of the water, charter a sailboat with Compass Sailing, take it slow on a kayak, or go fast with a jet ski rental! However you decide to spend your time here, the many attractions certainly make for an exciting visit.

Travel Back in Time
History buffs! Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Fort Pulaski located on nearby Cockspur Island. The famous landmark was named one of the top historical spots worth traveling for in Georgia and it is certainly worth a visit. The monument includes a visitor center and museum, with information on the area’s history and historical significance. Guided tours are available on weekends and take a deep dive into the rich history of the fort. This is also a fantastic spot for hiking, with seven well-maintained trails on the grounds. Admission is just $10 per person, so be sure to visit during your next trip to Savannah! Another historical monument worth visiting is Tybee Island Light Station, Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse. Visit the nearby museum for a history of the area and the grand legacy of the lighthouse going all the way back to 1736!

Visit Local Shops and Attractions
In the mood for a good film? The Tybee Post Theater is a historic building retrofitted to showcase all the latest Hollywood hits as well as local events, concerts, and plays. Reopened in 2015, the building was originally made in 1930 as a movie house for soldiers stationed on the nearby army base. Though it was closed in the mid-1960s, it now serves Tybee Island as a local landmark and gathering place for the community. Shop till you drop at the Shops at Tybee Oaks! We highly recommend a visit to the Tybean Art and Coffee Bar, Huc-A-Poos Bites and Booze, and Glazed and Confused.
